Carlson Tool & Mfg. Corporation and Battery Equipment Service Company have joined forces to create a new generation of grid casting equipment. This new alliance combines the best of both companies.

Carlson offers 25 plus years of grid casting experience with expertise in all phases, from plate and grid mold design through mold manufacturing and certification, and problem solving within the casting process for both SLI and Industrial grid plates. BESCO offers years of grid caster design and manufacturing, as well as field service throughout the world. This combination of talent creates a team that is committed to providing the battery industry with a plate casting machine that produces the highest quality grid plates consistently, at substantially improved cycle times.

We are also committed to providing our customer with the finest customer service in the world. Please take just a moment to review some of the newest features we have designed into this new generation of casting machines.

Computerized Control that will provide the following:

• Operator friendly touch screen for ease of operation.
• Controls all heating and cooling zones in the mold, assuring that constant optimum temperatures are maintained. This control is equipped with a ramp up feature, which gradually brings the casting speed to optimum allowing mold temperature to normalize after mold spray up. This is accomplished with no operator intervention.
• Accepts and stores pre-set programs supplied by Carlson that has identical parameters the mold was certified to. This feature is an excellent starting point and the control will accept edits to allow for continuous improvement in the casting cycle.
• A trouble alarm alerts operators of any problem and the self-diagnostics will explain the problem to the operator. All of this allows the problem to be resolved as quickly as possible and gets the caster back to production in the shortest possible time.

The entire casting system was designed to provide higher casting speeds that are sustainable throughout the entire production run.

• Automatic vent bar purge between each casting cycle and during mold spray up.
• Automatic grid mold gas evacuation system to aid filling.
• Casting equipment is designed to handle all known lead alloys used in the battery industry today.
• All casting equipment features temperature controlled, no lead return metered valve, sealed ladles, and lead line systems.
• Operator friendly design provides easy access to the grid mold and was designed to ease clean up around the machine.

The SLI casting machine accepts grid molds from 17 inches to 19 inches in length which enables you to produce plates for all SLI sizes, as well as golf cart, motorcycle, and commercial modern grid design. Three types of grid casters are available in SLI or industrial, with fixed or adjustable trim dies.

• Adjustable trim die allows operator to adjust trim die to different trim heights while die is in the machine. You will never need to remove the die from the machine.
• The adjustable trim die caster allows for a higher cast grid panel stacker to reduce the physical effort to remove plates from the stacker by the operator.

Start-up and operator training is available with the purchase of the machine. Additional operator training is available at the Carlson Tool Grid Casting Tech Center located in Cedarburg Wisconsin USA.
