Grid Molds 

Carlson has served the lead-acid battery industry since 1964.  In addition to plastic injection molds for Covers, Containers and Jars, we have an entire department dedicated to making and refurbishing molds for lead grids, including gravity-cast grid molds and rotary casting molds for automotive and industrial applications.  Our services include product design, product analysis, mold design, manufacturing, certification trials on our in-house casting machines, crating and world-wide shipping. 

Grid weight control is extremely important for battery performance and regulating lead consumption.  Prior to CNC-machining, the cavity volumes are verified using a computer-simulated, weight-verification system to insure accuracy and viability.  During manufacturing, the mold specifications are verified using in-process monitoring.  These checks insure the molds meet the required specifications and making money for our customers quickly. 

Our mold-sampling capabilities insure the molds are production-ready prior to delivery.  We also provide pre-production parts to expedite production approval.  Carlson Tool is committed to your satisfaction and success.  We are always happy to provide training on spray-up procedures and grid cast equipment operation training.  We do this both at Carlson and our customers’ sites.  We understand you have a choice of grid mold vendors and would very much welcome the opportunity to show you our capabilities.
