Since 1983, Carlson has partnered with Unigraphics for 3D mold design and manufacturing assistance. Unigraphics-based product design is integral to every phase of product development. New or existing designs are converted into a Unigraphics design file, which is then used universally for customer approval, prototyping, quality inspections and manufacturing.
The Unigraphics’ design file reduces lead times for product design and development through the utilization of solid modeling.
Because accuracy at the start ensures accuracy at the finish, Carlson also uses Unigraphics in conjunction with our exclusive ParaFlex technology. ParaFlex is our proprietary electronic system for bringing products from design to molding more rapidly, and in a way that dramatically reduces the risk of error.

Carlson’s state-of-the-art CAD/CAM network allows your electronic CAD data to be used directly to design your mold. By importing existing part data, we avoid product interpretation errors, saving our customers valuable time and money.
Files can be imported/exported all common formats, including IGES (Initial Graphics Exchange Specification), DXF (Drawing Interchange Format), STEP, Native Parasolids, AutoCad DWG files, or Unigraphic PRT files. If your files are in another format, contact your account manager so we can arrange to accommodate your needs.
File transfers are done via magnetic tape, direct modem connection, Internet FTP or email. To quickly and easily transfer a design file to Carlson, contact your account manager for instructions.
